Eva Edith (Yow) Routh

Eva Edith Yow Routh was born April 15, 1915 in Greensboro, NC; the oldest of seven children, to Hampton Mossie Yow. She passed away on December 2, 2014, at 99 years of age in Dallas, TX. She married Ernest Leonard Routh on June 1, 1935. Years later, Leonard went into the ministry Edith served as a Southern Baptist pastor's wife in churches in VA, WV and NC before their retirement. Funeral services will be Monday, December 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Hermon Baptist Church, 9713 Lancaster Hwy., Waxhaw, NC 28173. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church. Edith Leonard had only one child, daughter Nancy LaRee, but helped with several of Edith's younger siblings, having Carol Yow (Brown) live with them during her Nancy's high school years. They also took in a foster son, Don Riley, Sr. during those same years. Their home was always open to family and church friends. Edith was preceded in death by Leonard in December 1994 after 59 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter Victoria in 1956, foster son Don Riley great-great-grandson Jaxson in 2011. She is survived by two sisters, Mabel Bremer and Carol Brown; one brother, Bobby Yow; daughter Nancy and son-in-law Jim Agnor; their children, Cindi and Richard Copeland, Jay and Peggy Agnor, Len and Cindy Agnor and Rick and Sarah Agnor; nine great-grandchildren: Ryan, Michael, Brittany, Shannon, Lauryn, Heather, Casey, Tyler and Brady; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
