Evelyn Clara (Hargett) Greene

Evelyn Clara Hargett Greene “Mrs. Evelyn” was born February 19, 1924 and was from the New Salem Community. Mrs. Greene passed November 1, 2014 at the age of 90 at the Jesse Helms Center where she had been a resident since 2008. She was the daughter of the late Bronnie Lee and Lillie Maude Griffin Hargett of the Olive Branch Community. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Corbett Greene and daughter Ann Greene Lathan Keziah Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 3, 2014, in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC, 28112. The family will visit prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial will follow at Euto Baptist Church cemetery, 6019 Hwy 205, Marshville, NC, 28103. Ms. Greene is survived by two daughters, Corliss Greene Austin and husband Doug of Monroe, NC, Susan Greene Baucom and husband Dwayne of Monroe, NC, six grandchildren, John Austin and wife Dayna of Monroe, NC, Carl Austin and wife Tammy of Monroe, NC, Jo Ann Lathan Austin and husband Tim of Troutman, NC, Ben Keziah of Marshville, NC, Christopher Baucom and wife Lisa of Lewisville, Texas, Michael Baucom and Missy of Charlotte, NC. Nanny Greene was also survived by ten great grandchildren, one sister Christine Hargett Beard of Canton, Ga, and one sister-in-law Martha Greene Hogan of Norman, NC. Her family of caregivers from the Jesse Helms Center will never be forgotten for their loving care and kindness. Gordon Funeral Service Crematory is caring for the Greene family.
