Evelyn Keziah Mason

Evelyn Keziah Mason, 80, of Monroe, succumbed to Alzheimer’s on January 13, 2025, at Pruitt Health in Rockingham.

She was born on Christmas Day, 1944, to the late Myrtle Medlin Keziah and Earle Jackson Keziah, of Wingate. Evelyn graduated from Forest Hills High School in June 1963, and married Billy Bivens Mason of Monroe in July 1963. They have two children, Elizabeth, and William, in 1964 and 1966.

A longtime homemaker and avid reader, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mason in 2015, and her older brother, Keith Keziah of Wingate, in December 2024. Her mother Myrtle passed away in 1996, and her father Earle, who also had Alzheimer’s, passed away in 2000.

Evelyn is survived by her children, as well as a younger brother, Don Keziah, and a younger sister, Susanne Keziah, both of Wingate, along with Aunt Edith Medlin Rorie, of Monroe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Gordon Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.

The family of Evelyn Mason would like to thank the management and staffs of Brookdale Assisted Living’s Memory Care Unit in Monroe, the staff at Atrium Health in Monroe, along with the directors and staff at Pruitt Healthcare in Rockingham, for taking good care of Evelyn during the times she spent all their locations, and for assisting and supporting her along her journey with Alzheimer’s. They kept her comfortable and happy; their efforts and dedication are most appreciated.
