Evelyn Ruth Simpkins McGinn, 92, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 10, 2016. A native Charlottean, she was born on July 31, 1924, to the late Ann Brigman and Ike Wade Simpkins. She attended Central High School and Peace College where she majored in Music and Art, before marrying her husband of 62 years, the late Robert (Bob) L. McGinn, Jr., on January 10, 1947. She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Joyce Simpkins, Dorothy Simpkins Milam and Jean Simpkins Bearden, and her son-in-law, Hank Linker. Lynn was an active member of Carmel Baptist Church since 1972 and truly demonstrated her faith in the way she lived her life and cared for those around her. She was a long-time member of the Lower Providence Women’s Club and spent many happy years at “Meadowview”, making marvelous memories with treasured friends and family. She was a devoted wife and loving mom, a talented artist and enjoyed gardening. But her favorite activity was being Grannie to her nine grandchildren. Lynn touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Lynn is survived by her children, Robert Wayne McGinn (Susan) of Marion, NC, Marianne McGinn Linker of Waxhaw, Gary I. McGinn (Kim) of Lancaster, SC, Madison L. McGinn (Icy) of Waxhaw, grandchildren “Mac” McGinn, (Erin), Meg McGinn Sadler (Chris), James McGinn (Alisha), Hannah McGinn, Mark McGinn, Nathan McGinn, Joshua Linker (Susan), Will Linker (Wendy) and Travis Linker, along with seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00, at Carmel Baptist Church, 1145 Pineville-Matthews Road, Matthews, NC 28105, with interment at Harrison United Methodist Church in Pineville.
