Evelyn Ormond Rains

Monroe, NC Evelyn Ormond Rains, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, surrounded by the love and support of her family. Born Evelyn Rose in Hookerton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Ola Brady Ormond. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Jim, to whom she was married for 61 years, two daughters, Janet McRorie and Pamela Rains, both of Monroe, son, Phil Rains and his wife, Leigh Price Rains, also of Monroe. Evelyn was also blessed with six grandchildren, Jamey McRorie and his wife, Jillian Wilson McRorie of Ashville, Alabama; Brandon Rains and his wife, April Baird Rains, of Indian Trail, North Carolina; Tyler, Chelsey and Connor Rains, all of Monroe; and Kailey Rains, whom she is now holding dear. Evelyn is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Ormond Rains of Pascagoula, Mississippi, and her brother, William Earl Ormond of Princeton, NC. She was predeceased by her brother, Bill Ormond, also of Princeton. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. A graveside service will immediately follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome, however, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials made out to your local Hospice organization.
