Florence A. Campbell of Waxhaw, NC and Parkersburg, WV died quietly at home in her sleep on October 12, 2013 at the age of 96 with both her children at her side. Florence was born May 7, 1917 in Cambridge, MA to John Francis and Florence Emily Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband James G. Campbell and her 5 sisters Rose, Marie, Anna, Felicia and Emily. Florence is survived by her children, Carolyn Homoly of Waxhaw and Jim Campbell of Atlanta and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Flo was a member of the Parkersburg Women Club, St. Margaret Mary Church, the Sanctuary Circle and garden club in Parkersburg. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader, taught CCD classes, was an avid reader, loved Scrabble and Gin Rummy and was never at a loss for words. She had a tremendous zest for living In her own words, Florence lived a life of quiet but firm faith in the Lord. Each morning her daily prayer was Dear Jesus unite my soul, mind and body to be obedient to Your will not mine. She was generous with her worldly possessions to her family, church, charities and friends. She had one great love in her life and that was gardening and in her later years the joy of her life was her long haired Chihuahua, Jim Dandy. A party celebrating her life will be held Sunday, October 20th from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at Rippington's Restaurant in Waxhaw. Memories may be shared online at www.gordonfuneralservice.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Carolyn for the Florence Campbell Memorial Garden. Burial November 8 at St. Catherine's in Parkersburg, after a memorial mass at St. Margaret Mary Church.
