Frances (Funderburk) Baker, 93, of Marshville, NC passed away late Thursday afternoon, July 7, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Baker was born on Thursday, November 29, 1928 in Monroe, NC and was the daughter to the late George Cleo and Martha Cleo (Horne) Funderburk, Sr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, her son, Ricky George Baker and his wife, Debbie of Marshville, NC; Grandchildren, Scarlett Baker Chapman and her husband, Hise, Daniel Baker, Seth Baker and his wife, Bethany, Wendy Baker, Neil Baker, Steven Baker and Carlyn Baker Isaac and her husband, Ron. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Abigail Chapman, Joshua Chapman, Anna Chapman, Rosie Baker, Jacob Baker, Eli Baker, Sara Baker, Hannah Baker, Madeline Hall, Samuel Hall, Chandler Hall and Jarrett Isaac; Daughters-in-law, Sheila Baker and Karen Baker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Boyce Baker who died on May 26, 1996; her two sons, Donnie Michael Baker and Gary Boyce Baker; her sisters, Myrtle Ben Funderburk Rogers and Mary Jo Funderburk Mullis and her brother, George Cleo Funderburk, Jr.
Mrs. Baker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker for many years.
Funeral services to celebrate Mrs. Baker’s life will be 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2022 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, NC with Rev. R. Caroll Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1hour prior to the service in the church.
The family of Mrs. Baker would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Hospice of Union County, especially, Susanne McCarver and Shavon Melton. We will never forget the kindness you showed mother throughout her journey.
