Frances Broome Cunningham

Frances Broome Cunningham, 92, of Monroe, NC passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born in Union County on April 23, 1931, the daughter of the late Harvey Laney Broome and Addie Virginia Starnes. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. J. F. Cunningham, and son, Eddie Dean Cunningham. She was the youngest and last surviving of her twelve siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with a private burial to follow in Rich Family Cemetery, Indian Trail. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

Frances’ greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and spending time with family. Nothing put a smile on her face like being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a kind and gentle lady who was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. Later in life, she also cherished the friendships she made at the Olive Branch Family Home.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Freida C. Starnes, husband Sam, of Monroe, and four grandchildren: Chad Starnes, wife Lisa, Travis Starnes, wife Amber, Shane Cunningham, wife Lauren, Casey Cunningham, and fiancé, Chad Ames, 10 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Donald Cunningham and wife Doris, and sister-in-law Linda Cunningham.
