Frances Anne Vaughn

Frances Anne Baucom Vaughn, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mint Hill, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Fairview, NC with The Reverend Dr. Ken Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Fran was born on August 4, 1942, in Washington, DC, the only child of James Harvey and Mildred Haigler Baucom. She graduated from Concord High School in 1960 and from Appalachian State Teachers College (now Appalachian State University) in 1964. Her professional life included nine years as an elementary school teacher in Concord NC, Brevard County FL, and Raleigh NC as well as sixteen years as administrative assistant to approximately 100 IT staff and managers at CP&L/Progress Energy in Raleigh, followed by approximately eight years as legal assistant for the NC Administrative Office of the Courts. Throughout the years, Fran enjoyed volunteering as tutor/mentor for Communities in Schools of Wake County and supporting the activities of the Women’s Club of Raleigh and the Raleigh Garden Club. Fran will be dearly remembered by her close friends from her former home in Raleigh. She is survived by a precious aunt, Carol Haigler Davis of Florence, SC and ten cousins: Olin C. Trull, Ann H. Price, B.B. Haigler, and Gail F. Latham of Union County, NC; Mary Lou Fowler of Houston, TX; Sue F. Gurley of Lewisburg, WV; A. Leon Price of Daleville, VA; John H. Price of Camden, SC; Robert B. (Bob) Davis of Ridgeway, SC; and Richard H. (Ricky) Davis of Darlington, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 7608 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110.
