Frank “Del” Murphy Rogers Jr., 58, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 due to complications from Covid. He was born in Charlotte, NC on July 7, 1962, eldest son of Frank and Carrie Rogers.
Del is a graduate of Parkwood High School and attended Wingate University. He then enlisted in the U.S Air Force, hoping to see the world, but ended up stationed in Myrtle Beach, SC where he met his future wife, Martha. They were married on August 26, 1989.
After leaving the Air Force, Del was employed as a sales rep for NAPA Batteries, where he achieved the #1 salesman spot for the South East United States. Upon leaving NAPA Batteries, Del was employed as a store manager with Cardinal Rubber in Rock Hill, SC for 2 years. His next job was with his father at NAPA Auto Parts, Monroe and Waxhaw, NC for 20 years.
At the time of his passing, Del was employed with Baucom Service Inc. in Parts and Inventory Control. Del was known for his encyclopedic memory of auto parts, farm and heavy construction equipment.
He was an insatiable reader, history enthusiast, everyone’s problem solver and friend to everyone.
He is survived by his wife Martha, his parents Frank and Carrie Rogers, two sisters, Chris Strawn (Lynn) and Carmen Shaffer, brother, Damon Rogers (Mary), brother-n-law and sister-n-law, Robert and Beth Miller, of Easley, SC.
Del loved his eight nieces and nephews, his four great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved feline daughter, Smudge.
A memorial service to celebrate Del’s life will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Waxhaw United Methodist Church, 200 McDonald St, Waxhaw, NC 28173. The services will be live streamed through Waxhaw United Methodist Church's Facebook page. The family will gather in the sanctuary and friends are invited to go to the fellowship hall to maintain social distance.
