Franklin Wayne Greene

July 14, 1946 — August 29, 2020

Mr. Franklin Wayne Greene, 74, of Monroe, NC passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was born in Union County on July 14, 1946 son to the late James “Yewell” Greene and Edith Helms Greene. He is also preceded in death by his wife Eloise Greene, as well as his brother, Rondall Greene and sister, Rebecca Greene. A private funeral service will be held at Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Road, Monroe, NC 28110. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Wayne loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved reading the Bible daily, but more importantly, he knew how to live out God’s Word by the way he loved others unconditionally. He was an amazing husband, father, and papa. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was second only to his love for Jesus. As a husband, Wayne loved unconditionally. He believed God had blessed him with his wife and treated her like a queen. He always built her up and encouraged her. He loved to spend time with her and fixed up a bus to be a camper so that they could travel together. He couldn’t wait to get her to the white sandy beaches of his beloved Florida. As a father, he was an excellent teacher, explaining things to his children as he worked. His children have fond memories of doing everyday things alongside their Dad. The simple things, like holding the flashlight for him while he worked to fix one thing or another. Although when the flashlight strayed from its intended target, he would often ask his young helper, “You see what I’m working on don’t you?” As a grandfather, Wayne loved to entertain his grandchildren by talking like Donald Duck and saying funny things. He knew what was important to each of his grandchildren and made them feel special by talking to them about that. He showed them how to do things and spent time with them. He was the World’s greatest Papa. Wayne was a talented man, a builder, who built swings, benches, tables, and more. He could remodel a home and work on a wide variety of things from wheelchairs to cars. At one time he made a living as a painter, although in his later years he preferred to let someone else do that job. Wayne built other people up and he loved to make other people smile, whether they were a family member or a total stranger. He often told jokes, sometimes corny “dad” jokes and he always jokingly picked at others, in an attempt to brighten their day. Wayne was not a complainer, having made a decision in his early years, that he would not complain. If you asked him how he was doing he would often say “I’m blessed and highly favored.” Wayne met the Lord when he was 12 and it fashioned him into the man he was. He was looking forward to the rapture and being with Jesus. He is in heaven now and where he’d want to see each of you again. If you do not know Jesus as your personal savior, please don’t wait, tomorrow is not promised to us. Wayne and Judy have prayed for all of you and want us all to be together there. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
