Franklin Douglas Wharam

March 22, 1951 — August 8, 2025

Franklin Douglas Wharam, Sr., died on August 8, 2025, after a long battle with leukemia. He was born on March 22, 1951, in Arlington, VA to Moody and Ethel Wharam. He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1969 and later built a long and successful career in the men’s apparel industry. His work took him all over the country, and he accumulated countless friends over five decades in his position.


Frank is survived by his significant other, Pat Downs, and his four children: Douglas, James, Berkeley, and Mosche. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and his beloved dog. Frank loved golfing, especially at the Monroe Country Club, where he volunteered in the last years of his life.


A Celebration of Life will be held in Frank’s honor on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:30AM until 1:30PM at the William R. Davie Conference Center at the William R. Davie Park, located at 4635 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Frank’s memory would be appreciated.
