MONROE - Fred George Jacobs, 87, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born in Scotland County on Jan. 26, 1923, son of the late George and Ida Dow Jacobs. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from R.C. Etters Insurance Agency. Mr. Jacobs is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sylvia (Connie) Jenkins Jacobs of Monroe; son, Dan Jacobs and wife, Ann of Weddington; daughters, Linda Hope and husband Chris of Monroe and Teresa Klemmer and husband John of Covington, Va.; sister, Marise Kinsey of Dallas; grandchildren, Chip Hope of Monroe, Carrie Hargett of Wesley Chapel, Jeff Clemmer of Staunton, Va., Jennifer Ellis of Covington, Va., Melissa Schacher of Monroe and Danny Jacobs of Mount Holly; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, from 3 until 5 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
