Frederick Leon Simpson

Frederick Leon Simpson Jr., 85, of Monroe, NC passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. He was born in Washington, DC on June 16, 1936, son to the late Frederick Leon Simpson Sr. and Christine Haigler Simpson. He was preceded in death by his sister Louise Simpson, daughter-in-law Patti Tillman Simpson and grandchildren, Katie Scott Simpson, Mollie Michele Simpson, and Kylie Christine Simpson.

Fred served the Monroe and Charlotte communities for many years as both an independent insurance agent and a community-theater actor in numerous plays and musicals.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Monroe, 109 Morrow Street, Monroe, NC 28112. A live stream of the service also will be available at fbcmonroenc.com.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Barbara Huntley Simpson, and their two sons, Scott Simpson and Murray Simpson, wife MiTia Tran, grandchildren Leah Elizabeth Simpson, Matthew Christopher Simpson and Benjamin Alexander Simpson, and sister Morie Austin.

Because of Covid concerns, the family will not hold a visitation before the memorial service. Following the service, Fred’s sons will be available to receive friends and relatives. Sympathy cards with remembrances of Fred can be brought to the memorial service or sent to the home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Monroe, 109 Morrow Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
