Gary Lee Vaughn, 72 of Monroe, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, on October 25, 1953, son to the late Elbyrne Vaughn and Emily Tillman Vaughn.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.

Gary is survived by his wife, Rose Garner Vaughn, son, Clayton Vaughn (Melissa), and granddaughter, Madison Vaughn.

Gary was a lifetime optician. He loved civil war history, hunting, fishing, music, golf, and football. He had a gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He spent his Fridays with his ITGA golf buddies that he loved dearly. He also enjoyed spending free time with the Broken Arrow Hunt Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Indian Trail Athletic Association, PO Box 252 Indian Trail, NC 28079.
