Genave "Genny" Baker

Genave "Genny" Johnston Baker, 94, passed away, Wednesday, February 6, 2019. She was born July 20, 1924 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late William Franklin Johnston and Ada Kennedy Johnston Wallace. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Graham Braswell Baker who passed away in 1987. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Braswell, Nell Mullis and a brother, Frank Johnston. She was a long-time employee of Kenneth Home Fashions, Robert’s, Gala Boutique, as well as, other retail shoppes in Monroe. Genny was also a long time, faithful member of Faulks Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, WMU and was a Sunday School Teacher. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Faulks Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00PM to 2:50PM in the church sanctuary. Mrs. Baker is survived by three daughters; Shirley Collins (Boyd) of Wadesboro, Kathy Payne of Maryville, TN, Lynn Huckaby (Mike) of Charlotte, seven grandchildren, Angie Dew, Terri Martin, Michelle Philemon, Jacob Stout, Kayla Payne, Hannah Huckaby, Hunter Huckaby and seven great-great-grandchildren, Alex and Aaron Dew, Colin and Garret Philemon, Ethan, Kendall, and Macie Martin.
