Genevieve Walkup Courtney, 93, passed away Monday August 14, 2017. She was born in Union County, NC December 6, 1923 daughter to the late Samuel Crawford Ellen Eugenia Wilson Walkup. She is also preceded in death her siblings, Jane McCain, Ruth Fox, Edna McCain, Elizabeth Sechler, Bennilee Brewer, Wilson Walkup, and Worth Walkup. She is survived by a brother Dale Walkup, and many nieces and nephews. She was a life long member of Bethlehem UMC where she was active in the United Methodist Women, and the choir. She worked 25 years as a receptionist for Dr. W. H. McLeod, DDS and as a receptionist at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte for 21 years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
