George Lewis Guhse

Monroe, NC George Lewis Guhse, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010. He was born in Somerville, New Jersey on December 5, 1925 son of the late Ewald and Maud Brown Guhse. Mr. Guhse was a US Army, World War II veteran. He was an avid bird watcher and gardener and enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He also volunteered as a fireman in Finderne, NJ for many years. He retired after 45 years at Union Carbide in Bound Brook, NJ as a skilled electrician. He moved to Monroe, NC in 1987. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 prior to the service. Mr. Guhse is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Florence Richardson Guhse, sons, George Lewis Guhse, Jr of Urbanna, VA, Ken Guhse of Monroe, NC, daughter, Susan Guhse of Lincroft, New Jersey, sister, Betty Kerlin of Florida, grandchildren, Joshua Guhse, Allison Oliver and Kyle Telman, and one great grandchild, Hayden Guhse. Mr. Guhse was an active member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1712 Carmel Church Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
