George Billy Ray Helms, 75, passed away, Tuesday, December 10, 2013. He was born in Union County, NC on November 6, 1938 son of the late George Cull and Odessie Lee Deese Helms. Mr. Helms was a retired employee of Monroe Hardware and a US Army veteran. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM in the Gordon Chapel. Burial will follow in the Wingate City Cemetery. Mr. Helms is survived by his wife, Mary Smith Helms, sons, Mitchell Love of New Salem and Rex Alan Love and wife Kim of Stanfield, daughters, Deborah Horne and husband Brad, Teresa Jordan and husband Jeff, all of Marshville, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
