George Marvin Crook

George Marvin Crook, Sr., passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009. He was born in Union County, NC on September 8, 1916 son of the late Issac Jacob and Carrie Mullis Crook. Mr. Crook was a US Army Air Corps WW II veteran, an active member of Grace United Methodist Church where he served as former choir director. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial, with military honors will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Crook was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Crook and a sister, Peggy Gordon. He is survived by his wife, Jean Clontz Crook, a son, G. Marvin Crook, Jr., sisters, Dot Crook, Mildred Greene and Frances Hawfield, all of Monroe. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the funeral from 9:30 until 10:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 3522 Secrest Short Cut Rd., Monroe, NC 28110.
