George "Pete" Rogers

Dateline: George W. “Pete” Rogers, 74, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013. Pete was born October 21, 1938 in Manatee, FL, son of the late M.W. and Vesta C. Rogers. Pete was a career soldier in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for 22 years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and three in Germany. After retiring, he moved to Monroe and worked at Charlotte Plastics until 2000. Pete was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Monroe, often serving as an usher. He is survived by the love of his life for 52 years, Peggy Pressley Rogers; son, Robert M. Rogers and wife Tina; daughter, Tracy R. Kruchko and husband Donovan; grandchildren, Chad, Kailey, Kassidy, Gabrielle, and Blaine; two great-grandchildren; brother, David C. Rogers and wife Susan; sister, Polly Chester and husband Jack; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Toby Pressley; sister-in-law, Teresa Deaton; and brother-in-law, Ronald Pressley and wife Diane. The funeral service will be on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The Reverend Nick Rochester will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
