George Edward "Eddie" Watkins, 70, passed away March 12, 2020. He was born April 20, 1949 in Union County, NC son of Mary Starnes Watkins, and the late George C. Watkins. Funeral services will be held 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2020, Lakeland Memorial Park. Eddie is survived by his loving wife Lottie Laney Watkins, son Kevin Edward Watkins, (Brandi), a daughter Tamara Benthal Williams, a brother Larry Watkins, four sisters; Helen Baucom, Susie Thornton, Faye Strawn, and Kay King, five grandchildren; Stephen Benthal, Russel Benthal, Nick Pendleton, Madison Watkins, and Joslyn Watkins, and five great grandchildren.
