Geraldine Nance

Geraldine Starnes Nance passed away on February 21, 2022. She was born in Union County on February 9, 1937 daughter to the late Baxter Wade Starnes and Letha Mae Cook Starnes, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Lynn Nance.

Geraldine was the mother of three daughters: Pam Lipsky (Hal), Paula Sanders, and Patti Griffin (Chas). She was Mimi to Stephen Lipsky (Kendra), Alex Lipsky, Colby Sanders, Nic Sanders, Jacob Thomas (Michaela), Chasity Stone and Lexy Griffin. She shared her life with her twin sister and closest friend, Marlene McCain. She is also survived by her sister Lynda Moore (Galard), brother-in-law Harold Nance (Bec) and sister-in-law Pat Felmet.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 3221 Plyler Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28112 with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, February, 25, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory.

Geraldine was a graduate of Prospect High School and Kings College. Geraldine and Lynn married soon after and settled in the New Hope community. For years later, the relationships made in this community created a lifetime of happy memories for the couple and their family. Geraldine loved her church and the church family at New Hope United Methodist Church. She spent many years as the church secretary and pianist. She enjoyed working at the election polls and serving her community. She was a wonderful cook and loved to share a meal with family or friends.

Geraldine will be missed and will remain forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that for a memorial be shared with Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate ( ).
