Glenn Pope

July 14, 1943 — June 4, 2015

Mr. E Glenn Pope, 71 of Marshville, NC went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, June 4, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Glenn was born in Union County on July 14, 1943. He was the son of the late A.C. Pope Jr. and Juanita Jerome Pope. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Plyler Pope. He is also survived by his children, Angie Pope Smith and husband Greg, Candy Pope Phifer and husband Richard and Casey Pope Tomberlin and husband David. His greatest treasures called him PaPa, they are Scott Smith and wife Valerie, Ashley, Emily Rachel Phifer and Bailey Brody Tomberlin. The Great grands are Ansley Ally Smith. He is also survived by his sister Rhonda Pope Gaddy and husband Terry, and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Glenn graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1961. Glenn was employed as a maintenance supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and retired after 30 years of service. His favorite past times were fishing, bird hunting and gardening with his favorite cousins. But his most precious times were with his family and keeping and loving on his grandchildren. Glenn lived a wonderful life and was loved by many. The Homegoing Service for Glenn will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015 at FBCIT East Campus, 6140 W. Marshville Blvd., Marshville, NC 28103. The family will visit following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe, NC 28110. Throughout his battle with cancer, he received excellent care from Dr. John Vick, Dr. Richard Sowden and Dr. Gregory Brouse and their staff, and a special thank you to Hospice of Union County.
