A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 on Thursday January 2, 2025 with inurnment to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Glenna was the seventh and last child born to Glenn Hauldran Woner and Mildred Ella (Hensley) Woner on November 9, 1942 in Chowchilla, California.
In 1966, Glenna met the man she would love for life in Fresno, California. Glenna and Richard Edwin Sims, Jr. were married on May 27, 1968 in Reno, Nevada. Glenna had two children from a previous marriage, Johnny Dean Sims and Gina Marie (Sims) Holley. In 1971, Richard and Glenna were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Michelle Rae Sims.
Glenna was an avid gardener, voracious reader, and an initially reluctant goat herder. The goats were Richard’s idea. She had a unique talent for creating a comfortable and beautiful home, a welcoming sanctuary for family and friends. Her skill as a true Southern cook is a treasured family memory. Glenna’s Christmas dinners were legendary and the highlight of any holiday season.
Glenna was forever a loving wife, a devoted mother, and adored her growing grandsons. She blessed us all with her steadfast faith, keen intellect, feisty personality and wry sense of humor. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
Rest in Peace Mom, we love you.
