Gloria Tutor McLean, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2026, while she was sleeping at her home. Gloria was born on May 5, 1949, daughter to the late James Lenwood Tutor and Marva Lee Tutor.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 6, 2026, at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 1106 West Sandy Ridge Road, Monroe, NC 28112, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM in the church sanctuary.

Gloria married Rev. Philip McLean when she was only 16 years old. She often would recount that he even had to sign her report card. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, toll painting and other crafty things. She was an avid reader, enjoying Christian suspense novels, as well as, reading through her Bible many times in her lifetime. She spent time each week with the church prayer list remembering those in need.

For most of her life, Gloria was a pastor’s wife, loving and serving in the churches where her husband ministered. She was known as a caring and compassionate woman and is remembered fondly by those she came to know and love. Her favorite ways to serve in the church were in the nursery and the choir. Her love for the babies she held in the nursery was evident as she watched them grow to adulthood, always concerned with their well-being and excited to see them grow in the Lord. Since her husband’s retirement, she has been attending and has been a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Philip McLean, her son, Michael Lynn McLean (Martha), grandsons, Nathanael, Daniel, and Karsten.
