Grace Elise Autrey was born a perfect miracle on July 20th, 2023 at just 2lbs 5ozs. Grace means “God's goodness” and Elise “God's promise”. She was a warrior from the start. She battled this life like a warrior and climbed so many mountains with all she went through.
Grace was made for an abundant life. She loved to snuggle and smile at her mama, play and nap with her daddy, cuddle her grandparents and aunts and uncle. Grace loved visits from her family, her “emotional support contrast cards”, stacking her teethers on her arm and chewing them, going outside, and talking or squealing loud enough that everyone in the NICU heard her and knew she wanted attention. She was lovingly crowned “Queen of the South” in the NICU where she stole everyone’s heart. She was adored and prayed for by thousands from her family, friends, NICU nurses, team of doctors, therapists, church families across the nation, strangers in elevators, and pretty much everyone in the world.
On May 19th, 2024, in the arms of her mommy and daddy, surrounded by family as they sang in worship, Grace's heart stopped beating. She was immediately in the presence of Jesus.
Grace was survived by her parents, Timothy Jackson Autrey and Kassie McWhorter Autrey; her paternal grandparents, Jeff and Mauri Autrey; maternal grandparents, Monty and Karla McWhorter; Aunt Addie McWhorter, Uncle Joseph Autrey (Aunt Leah Autrey), and Aunt Lauri Autrey; and great-grandparents Tim and Layne Madaris and Charles and Dot Jackson. While sitting on Jesus’ lap, Grace was welcomed to Heaven by PawPaw and MawMaw McWhorter, Grandpa Jackson, Grandma Grace, and many other saints as they gathered to worship the Lord. To God be the Glory.
