Grace Ross Massengill, 94, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017. She was born July 12, 1922, in Beaufort County, NC, to the late Clyde Vernon Ross and Marie Lenoir Hicks Ross. Mrs. Massengill obtained her Bachelor's Degree from East Carolina University and taught Kindergarten and First Grade for Wilson City Schools. A life long Methodist, she was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe. Her fingerprints can be found all throughout her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Fitzhugh Massengill, who passed away June 3, 2016. Mrs. Massengill is survived by her daughter, Jan Glover and husband, Bucky, of Monroe; sister, Ola Ross Rutledge of Salisbury; grandchildren, Allen Glover, Emily Cook, and Scott Glover; and great-grandchildren, Anna and Elliot Glover, Grayson, Elijah, and Cody Cook. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 10:00 to 10:45 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in Central United Methodist Church's Central Hall. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Central United Methodist Church, with burial in Lakeland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W.
