Grady Mangum

December 31, 1969 — February 20, 2014

Grady Mitchell “Mitch” Mangum, 60, of Monroe, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at home. Mr. Mangum was born in Union County on October 12, 1953 to the late Henry Grady and Emmy Rape Mangum. He was a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Class of 1971. He was retired from the City of Monroe, Engineering, Street Division. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC, conducted by Rev. Scott Patterson. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at Gordon Funeral Service. Mr. Mangum is survived by his twin brother, Henry Michael “Mike” Mangum; sister, Debbie Mangum Laney and husband Tommy; and niece, Lisa Laney-Pressley and husband Jeremy; half-sister, Pamela Rape Walters and husband Dennis; nephew, Greg Walters; niece Shonda Walters McManus and husband Preston; great-niece, Kaylee McManus and great-nephew, Carson McManus, all of Monroe. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Humane Society of Union County, P. O. Box 101, Monroe, NC 28111.
