Grier Bennett Simpson

Grier Bennett “Benny” Simpson, 90, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021. He was born in Union County on May 24, 1930, son of the late Samuel Allison Simpson and Margaret Huey Simpson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Simpson and sisters, Jean Cole and Helen Van Huss. Benny loved his family and loved and served the Lord faithfully, teaching Sunday School for 60 plus years. A graveside service will be Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 - 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, prior to the service. Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Beth Gordon Simpson; son, Rick Simpson and wife Sherri of Lancaster; daughter, Susan Simpson of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Jonathan Simpson, Michael Simpson and Lindsey Belk; and sister, Carolyn Starnes and husband Reece. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
