Dateline: Monroe, NC Harley Gary Presson, 76, “Pop” went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at CMC Union surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 9, 1935 in Chesterfield, SC son of the late Henry and Gertrude Funderburk Presson, he is also preceded in death by brothers Jim, Nathan, and Henry, and a sister Ruby Griffin Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Pop is preceded in death by a son Eddie Presson., and is survived by his loving wife of 53 plus years Betty Cox Presson, a son Danny and wife Sherrie, four grandchildren, JJ and wife Candi, L.D., Nikki, Staci and husband Jason, two great granddaughters Jaylynn, and Allie, brothers Lavenn, and Morris, and a sister Euleta Walters. Pop was a retired construction superintended of Bovis Lend Lease, a founding member of Stack Road Volunteer Fire Department and the greatest husband, father, and grandfather anyone could have asked for, his sense of humor will surely be missed, “Use your head for more than a hat rack.” The family will receive friends on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
