Harold Calvin Funderburk, 87, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018. Harold was born in Union County on December 19, 1930. He was the son of the late Robert Calvin and Sarah Jones Funderburk. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Monroe, NC. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00AM until 11:00AM. He was survived by his loving wife Pauline Griffin Funderburk and two daughters Pamela Funderburk Laney and Jan Funderburk Kerley, husband Scott, two granddaughters, Allison Blake Haver of Charlotte, NC., Kaden Marie Haver, two grandsons, Peter and Jimmy Kerley. Harold loved gardening, building grandfather clocks, furniture and any type of woodworking, he especially loved his family. Harold was a member of First Baptist Church, in Monroe from birth until death. He was a graduate of Monroe High School and Western Carolina University. Harold worked for Union County Public School System for 37 years. He began as a teacher and a coach at Monroe High School and finished his career as Associate Superintendent of Union County Schools.
