Harriet "Hoppy" Smith

Harriet June “Hoppy” Smith, 73, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 25, 2009. She was born in Wayne County, West Virginia on May 9, 1936 daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Lycans Caniff. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Steve Smith of Lakeworth, Florida, daughters, Cindy Watts and husband, Dennis of Huntington, West Virginia, Traci Bostic and husband, Paul of Monroe, NC, with whom she resided, sisters, Judy Sheinbrot of Baltimore, Maryland, Barbara Hensley of Wayne, West Virginia, grandchildren, D.J. and Amber Watts, Victoria, Ella, and Catherine Bostic, great grandchildren, Chyler and Eli Watts and Quinton Morris and several nieces and nephews. As per her request there will be no visitation or services and her earthly body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3816 Morgan Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28110 where she was a member. Gordon Funeral Cremation Service is caring for the Smith family.
