Harry "Barry" Boyd

Dateline: Monroe, NC Captain Harry Walter “Barry” Boyd passed away on February 1, 2006 in Marshville, NC. Captain Boyd was born on December 23, 1923 in Malcolm, IA. He called Huntsville, TX home for 30 years prior to moving closer to family in 2002. Captain Boyd had a distinguished flying career as a U.S. Navy Pilot in World War II, and as a Captain for Texas International and Continental Airlines where he served for 37 years until retiring in 1983. An accomplished golfer, Captain Boyd once qualified for the U.S. Open Golf Championship. Captain Boyd is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nan Meigs Boyd of Malcolm, IA, his wife of 42 years, Barbara Hill Boyd of Huntsville, TX, and sister Babe Kline of Lakeland, FL. Captain Boyd is survived by his brother Robert “Bud” Boyd of Dallas, TX, son Michael Barry Boyd of Burbank, CA daughters Summer Boyd Jones of Seattle, WA, Patti Boyd Kaygi of Morrison, CO, and Joslyn Boyd Johnson of Monroe, NC. Captain Boyd is also survived by five grandchildren, Rachel and Shannon Kaygi of Morrison, CO, Jenna and Cayden Boyd of Burbank, CA and Alyssa Johnson of Monroe NC.
