Hazel Austin Schildt Baucom

Hazel Austin Schildt Baucom, 82, died Saturday, October 22, 2011. Hazel was born in Henderson County, NC, November 1, 1928 daughter of the late W. Albert and Geneva Williams Hill. She graduated from Unionville High School and attended Meredith College. Hazel owned and operated her own dairy farm. She was also a very active and longtime member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, having served in the Women's Missionary Union, Girls Auxiliary and the North Carolina Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Ministry. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Dean Austin, William Schildt and Craven Baucom. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:00 PM, in Mill Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Hazel is survived by her daughters Shelba Goodman of Monroe, NC and Sandra Comer of Mint Hill, NC; four sisters Jean Dalton and Mary Henry of Edneyville, NC, Nancy Pryor of Sugar Hill, GA and Sarah Hughes of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren, Christa Little, Daniel Goodman, Lori Wilbanks, Dawn Ferguson and Bryan Stanley; nine great grandchildren and five step-children. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 5417 Morgan Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
