Helen Phifer

Helen Harmon Phifer, 90, of Marshville, NC, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015, at CMC-Main in Charlotte. She was born August 11, 1925, in Asheville, NC to the late Oren Forrest and Annie Parker Litle. Mrs. Phifer was a member of Marshville United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the music program and served as pianist for many years. She is survived by her son, Thomas Mark Harmon and wife, Pam, of Nashville, TN; daughter, Linda Harmon Roof and husband, Royce, of Harrisburg; two sisters, Mary Margaret Riggins of Charlotte and Peggy McCurry of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Phifer was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Burton Burt Phifer. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:30 to 2:45 PM on Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2015, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. A memorial service will follow in the Gordon Funeral Chapel at 3:00 PM on Sunday, conducted by Rev. Danny Hawkins and Rev. Ed Henegar.
