Dateline: Monroe, NC Mrs. Helen Hartis Tomberlin 85 passed away Saturday September 29, 2012. She was born in Union County on October 22, 1926, daughter of the late Samuel and Annie Hartis. Mrs. Tomberlin was retired from the Union County Public Schools serving in the cafeterias. She was preceded in death by her husbands Sidney Helms and Henry Tomberlin and a son Mike Helms. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at the Graveside in Lakeland Memorial Park. Surviving are her son; Jerry Helms of Pawleys Island SC. Daughter; Phyllis Medlin of Monroe. Brother; Earnest Hartis of Clover, SC. Also 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandhild.
