Henry M. Foster Mac, 85, of Monroe, formerly of Charlotte and Holden Beach, passed away on December 8, 2011. He was born in Union, SC to John Henry and Estelle Wilburn Foster and moved to Charlotte at an early age. Mr. Foster retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Charlotte after 37 years. He served two years in the Navy in WWII and was called back for two years in the Korean War. Mac was a charter member and past master of West Gate Masonic Lodge and received his 50 year pen last year. He was a former member of Director Staff of Shrine, member of Paw Creek American Legion Post 353 and NARFE Chapter 105. Mr. Foster was a member of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Foster, daughter, Bridget Boatright (Tommy) of Wesley Chapel, son, Stan Foster (Cheryl) of Henderson, NV, granddaughter, Kimberly Brewster (Tom) of Arden, sisters, Juanita Stallings of Charlotte and Nancy Abernathy (Taylor) of Concord. The family will receive friends at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at noon in the chapel, officiated by the Rev. Bruce Gwyn and Rev. Marilyn Wooten. Burial will be private with a Masonic graveside service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family deeply appreciates the good care and love to Mac by all the staff at White Oak of Waxhaw.
