Howard Parks Nash Jr. (P.J.), 75, of Monroe, NC passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, from septic shock, as he was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Union County, son of the late Howard Parks Nash Sr. and Mae Starnes Nash. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Moore Nash. Parks took over his father’s business in 1966 when illness struck his dad. He was owner of Parks Nash Engine Rebuilders, where he was a mentor to many. P.J. was a dedicated church worker at Heath Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee and was instrumental in restoring the church. He enjoyed people, cars, and his pets, B.J, Scarlett and Bill. Thursday lunches were his favorite time to be with friends and the “Birthday Club” became a sight to behold. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Visitation will be held at Heath Memorial UMC, 9908 Richardson-King Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173 from 12:00pm until 1:45pm. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 with funeral services at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The public is invited to pay their respects on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 11:00am until 5:00pm at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112. He is survived by a sister Mary Marshall Nash, son C.J. Wallace, sister-in-law Ann M. Belk, niece Jennifer Hartley and nephew Joseph Moore III, as well as many loving and caring friends and relatives. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Heath Memorial UMC, P.O. Box 986 Monroe, NC 28111-0986. The family gives special thanks the nursing staff in the CCU at Atrium Health Union.
