Dateline: Monroe, NC Hymie Jacob Williams, 88 of Unionville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Hymie was born in Canton, Ohio on April 30, 1924, son of the late Celia and Louis Williams. He attended Moody Bible Institute where he met his beloved wife, Martha Seabolt. He was an accomplished musician and traveled with the USO during WW II on road shows with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. Hymie played with some of our countries finest musicians; including Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington. Hymie and his precious Martha began their lives together as missionaries in Winnipeg, Canada. He loved his children and grandchildren very much, and enjoyed telling his many life stories to them. He lived his life to the fullest, loving God, his family and music. The family will visit with friends and relatives Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the evening from 4:00 until 6:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:30 PM in Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Waxhaw City Cemetery. Hymie was preceded in death by his precious wife of 56 years, Martha Seabolt Williams, sister, Eshter Williams Levy and brother, Alex Williams. He is survived by his children, Jacob and Pam Williams of Indian Trail, David and Candace Williams of Wingate, Michael and Meg Williams of Waxhaw, Benjamin and Angela Williams of Weddington, Judy Goldberg of Canoga Park, CA., Joanie and John Stevens of Unionville, LouAnne and Greg Crowder of Hillsville,Virginia, Patricia and Bill Seibert of Waxhaw, a sister Karen Jones of Pikeville, KY, a niece Carol Levy of Los Vegas, NV, 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
