Ilse Rauschen

Ilse Rauschen (Omi) was born on November 13, 1939 in Steinheim, Germany. She was 17 when she met her husband, Willy, who was a German in the American Army stationed in Hanau, a town close by. They married and had two children, Connie and Michael. Ilse spent 20 years as an Army wife in California, Germany, Kansas and Massachusetts. When Willy retired from the Army in 1976 they moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida and Ilse spent the next 20 years working for Grumman Aerospace in Stuart, Florida. After retiring Ilse became a counselor for the Crisis Pregnancy Center, fighting as an advocate for Pro Life. She also volunteered at Nursing Homes in Port St. Lucie. Her church ministry was Women in Prison and she was the ultimate PRAYER WARRIOR!! In 2005 she and Willy decided to move to Charlotte, NC where her daughter, Connie and family lived and Ilse spent 10 wonderful years before she, sadly, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. On Wednesday, April 3, she entered the gates of heaven to be with her Jesus. Mom, you were the perfect role model for faith, kindness, generosity and love. We will miss you terribly but are so happy that you are now out of your wheelchair with a new body and dancing in heaven……free and at peace! Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112 with entombment to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park and Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday from1:00PM to 1:45PM at the funeral home. Omi had 6 grandchildren (Julie, Kristy, Audra, Marcus, Elena and Ava) and 1 great grandchild (Emery)……she loved them dearly, as well as her son-in-law Dale and her daughter-in-law, Renata. She survived by her husband, Willy, whom she was married to for 61 years!
