Irene Price (Price) Swinson

Mrs. Irene Price Swinson, 78, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015. She was born February 11, 1937, in Union County, NC to the late Marcus Bennett Price and Lena Helms Price. Mrs. Swinson is survived by her husband, Mr. Joel Swinson; three sons, Joey Swinson of Monroe, Danny Swinson of Indian Trail, and Randy Swinson of Monroe; brother, Ray Van Price of Monroe; sister, Kathleen Blythe of Monroe; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, M.B. Price. Mom was a loving wife and a loving mother. She always cared more for other people than she cared for herself. She loved her church and her church family. Having a mother and grandmother like her was one of the greatest joys we could ever have. The memories we made with her are memories we will cherish forever and we are grateful and thankful for all the things that she taught us and we are glad to call her our Mother and Grandmother. We love you! Children and Grandchildren Irene was a loving and faithful wife and companion. Our marriage of 61 years was the greatest gift and joy I could ever ask for. She was my best friend and my other half - she made me whole and complete. She will be missed terribly by her friends and family. I love you then, now, and forever. Joel Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4316 Hillcrest Church Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
