Jackie "Jack" Baucom

Jackie “Jack” H. Baucom, 75, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Autumn Care of Marshville, NC after a courageous battle of declining health for the past several years. He was born September 5, 1933 in Union County, NC to the late H. Clyde Baucom and Loma McGuirt Baucom. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Baucom, and a precious son, Marty Carroll Baucom. He was a graduate of Unionville High School, Class of 1952. He was a retired farmer and an installer of poultry equipment. He was always concerned with helping people in the community. He volunteered at the Unionville Barbecue, helping prepare the Brunswick stew for many years, and was a volunteer fireman for the Unionville Fire Department. Jackie was an Elder in the Unionville Presbyterian Church. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his devoted and caring wife of 56 years, Colon Benton Baucom; and his loving sons, Darrell H. Baucom and wife, Cynthia G. Baucom; and Randy K. Baucom and wife Vanessa B. Baucom, all of Monroe, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michelle B. Goodman and husband Donald, Brian Baucom, Eric Baucom, Leslie Baucom, Kaitlyn Baucom and Kristen Baucom; one great-grandson, Daniel Goodman. “Papaw” dearly loved each of them. He is also survived by a very caring and supportive brother, H. Dolan Baucom and his wife, Brenda E. Baucom and their loving family of Monroe, NC. A heartfelt thank-you is extended to all the wonderful staff of Autumn Care for their compassionate care and devotion to Mr. Baucom during his final years. Also, Pete Philemon was a wonderful roommate. Thank you to Gordon Funeral Service for caring for the Baucom family.
