Jackie Ray Gill, 70 of Monroe, NC went home to be with our Lord, February 2, 2008 in his home surrounded by his family. Born November 7th 1937, in Marshville, NC. Jackie was the son of the late Cornell (Neal) and Grace Chaney Gill. Preceding him in death were his brothers, Bill and Joe Neal Gill and a sister, Betty Lee Gill Hancock. Jackie was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School and graduated from Wingate College in 1958. He was an ordained Minister of Music and Education and served in numerous churches over his 43 year ministry. Jackie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce Melton Gill and two daughters, Tiffani Gill Gaddy and her husband Wesley Gaddy of Sumter, SC and Jacquelyn Suzanne Gill of Monroe, NC. And three grandchildren, Brittani Grace, Caleb Ryan and Cameron Scott Gaddy, of Sumter, SC and sister Peggy Gill Stroud of Indian Trail, NC. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, February 4th 2008 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Monroe, NC. Interment will follow at Prospect Methodist Church in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Gordon Funeral Home in Monroe, N.C. Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church, Scholarship Fund, 2301 Rocky River Rd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Union County Council on Aging.
