Jackson B. Boomhower, 86, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was born in Franklin County, VT on January 11, 1937, the son of the late Gordon and Marguerite Boomhower. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Gordon (Sonny) Boomhower, Richard Boomhower, Rita St. Pierre, Pat Niles, Mable Greene, and Gloria Kane, and his son Kim Boomhower and son-in-law Dennis Prescott.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Shelley Boomhower, brother George Boomhower and his wife Lin, sister Peggy Lawyer, sons Jackson A. Boomhower and his wife Emily, Andrew (Drew) Boomhower and his wife Robyn, daughters Kathy Irish and her partner Mike Forrest, Deb Latham and her husband Rick, Cindy Prescott, Carrie Boyer, Debbie Conger, and daughter-in-law Laurie Boomhower, 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews as well as the countless special relationships he built throughout his life.
Jack enjoyed his childhood years growing up on a dairy farm in Vermont. He then went on to have a successful 35 years at IBM in the tooling department, but his true love was always his time with his family and friends. Once retired he followed his passion for travel and adventure locally and abroad. Over the last 19 years, Jack and Shelley served their Lord by volunteering at the mission organization JAARS which allowed them to continue their love of travel by serving in other countries. When not abroad he cherished his time with all the generations he was blessed to have by his side.
Services will be planned in North Carolina in the coming weeks and Vermont in the coming months.
