Jacob "Jake" Morin

Jake Morin, 17, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was born February 3, 2000 in Mecklenburg County a son to Ed and Terrie Morin. Jake, a member of the Class of 2018, attended Central Academy of Technology and Arts where he was well loved by his classmates, teachers, and coaches. His passionate personality and sense of humor made him one of a kind. He loved making people laugh and was quick to play a harmless joke or lend a helping hand to someone. From a young age Jake was an exceptional athlete. He participated in several sports throughout his life including football, baseball, basketball, and his true love wrestling. As a youth wrestler he was a member of the Sun Valley Sun Devils program. He entered high school ranks well prepared to succeed and that’s what he did as a member of the CATA Wrestling team. His decorated wrestling career includes three conference titles, three regional titles, All State honors, and 129 career victories. Jake’s leadership will be greatly missed by his teammates and coaches. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday December 18, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church,725 Deese St. Monroe, NC 28112 with Father Benjamin A. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112. Jake is survived by his parents Edwin “Ed” Peter Morin, Jr., Theresa “Terrie” Brown Morin, brother Lyle Peter Morin, all of Monroe, paternal grandmother Toni Morin, of Apex, NC, maternal grandparents, Ed Mary Rose Brown of Columbia, SC, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
