Jacob Dwayne Starnes

Jacob Dwayne Starnes, 78, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was born January 3, 1944, son of the late Jacob Burton Starnes and Lizzie Mae Baker Starnes.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Chapel with burial immediately following at Lakeland Memorial Park.

He retired after 30 years from Southern Bell, he served his country with the United States Navy serving on the SS Trout Submarine. He loved to be on the water, boating and sailing, as well as riding his Harley Davidson with his son and friends. He was a self-taught musician of many instruments. He cherished his 10 years with Southwind Band. Jacob served as a Church Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Married to his high school sweetheart for 56 years, July 17th would have been there 57th Wedding Anniversary.

Jacob is survived by his wife, Carolyn Burnette Starnes; son, Jeffery Starnes (Robin); daughter, Leslie Stephens (Rex); sister, Judith Medlin Simpson (Brinkley); seven grandchildren, Taylor Burris (Zack), Madison Williams (Jamie Nance), Lauren Green (Chad), Cameron Pressley, Casey Pressley, Jacob Starnes and Lily Grace Starnes; and great-grandchildren, Emery Burris, Elliotte Burris, Adalynn Nance and another great-grandchild expected in September.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
