Jacquelyn Beasley Porterfield died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Salemtowne in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born July 21, 1928 in Monroe to the late Roland F. and Nell Bizzell Beasley. She is also preceded in death by her husband Jack Porterfield, Aunt Harriett Beasley Lee and cousin, Diana Lee. A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Monroe City Cemetery. She graduated from Monroe High School and attended the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. In 1951 she married Jack Porterfield of Monroe. They lived in Greensboro for 2 years before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas. While in Arkansas, Jackie became a member of the Eastern Star and Jack became a Mason and later a Shriner. When they retired in the late 70's, they moved back to Monroe. Jackie was active in the Eastern Star and was a Worthy Matron. She volunteered at the Monroe police department and worked with other Shrine ladies at all their fund raising affairs. She was a lifelong member of the Central United Methodist Church. In 2004, she moved to Salemtowne, the Moravian Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, NC. to be closer to her sister and family. Mrs. Porterfield is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Lloyd Bell, her nieces Laura Bell Munn (Brett), and Amy Bell Buehler (Bill), her nephews L.Andrew Bell III (Janie) and Christopher Beasley Bell (Beth), 4 great nieces, 7 great nephews, 1 great great niece and 2 great great nephews.
