James “Mickey” Mitchell Arthur, 66, of Monroe, NC passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. A native of Roanoke, VA, he was born on September 13, 1960, son to the late Earl Jefferson Arthur and Dorothy Boothe Arthur. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Arthur, David Arthur, and Danny Arthur, nephew, Christoper Arthur Goodwin, niece, Julie Arthur Malcolm, along with a daughter, Heather Jade Arthur Hodge.

Mickey leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts: his wife, Nikki Arthur; 5 daughters, Bridgette Brazzell (Jonathan), Rebecca Byrd (Denton), Sylvia Smith (Chatham), Angelica Gagliardo (Anthony), Tori Spears (Stephen); a brother, Kenneth Arthur; special niece, Amy Arthur Lowery; and friends that were family, Jerry Williams and Melody Etherton. He was also affectionately known as Grandpa Bubbles to 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a grandson on the way.

Mickey enjoyed time with his family immensely and truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, fishing, watching football, sitting around a fire, grilling for a crowd, and taking cruises. But more than anything, Mickey was a storyteller. He loved nothing more than telling stories of old memories. It didn’t matter if you’d heard it a thousand times before, he’d tell you again. There weren’t too many where he wasn’t the hero or didn’t win the fight. He just loved to keep you listening and laughing. His stories, his laughter, and his “Boy Howdy” will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112
