James Wilson “Jim” Brady, Jr., 62, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. He was born December 11, 1954, in Union County to the late James Wilson “Bud” Brady, Sr. and Aileene Bigham Brady. Jim was a founding member of Jackson VFD and served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 45 years. He served the last 27 years as Chief of the department. Jim loved his family, friends, and his community and he served them all well. Mr. Brady is survived by his wife, Sandy Starnes Brady, son, Jimmy Brady (Rusty Small) of Charlotte, three daughters, Joy Horne (Max) of Waxhaw, Wendy Parr (Eddie) of Waxhaw, and Lori Hargett (Chris) of Monroe , sister, Sue Brady Thornton of Waxhaw, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two nieces, two nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2017, in Walkersville Presbyterian Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
